Below are a few commonly asked questions to use as a guide.
Q. What happens if you hit rock during pool excavation?
A. L&V Pools have extensive experience across the Gold Coast and have a fair idea which areas tend to encounter rock. This is a discussion during the quote process and allowances can be made for areas that are prone to rock. We find that many customers have soil reports or prior knowledge if rock is present on their property which can also allow us to estimate for excavation. If you suspect you have rock on your property please discuss with us so we can ensure there are no unwelcome surprises once the job starts.
Q. How much does an average pool cost on the Gold Coast?
A. There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to pool building. The pricing varies and is based on pool site location, access, size, shape, finish, inclusions and many other tiny details. As a guide you could spend anywhere between $35,000 through to well over $100,000 depending what you are trying to achieve. We pride ourselves on using premium quality products that will last and they come with warranties that back up the quality claims. We are constantly refining our selections to ensure we continue to offer the best choices to our customers. Peace of mind is important. To get an exact price, please contact us for a quote.
It’s also important to remember that once your pool is installed there are other costs associated such as ongoing maintenance, pool fencing, landscaping, etc.
Q. Why choose a concrete pool?
A. The number one reason most people select concrete is because of how flexible the size and shape can be. The sky is the limit. This is particularly handy with residential block sizes reducing and space becoming a premium. Many also like to have an individual style that is unique to them, totally meeting their needs and choices. Concrete pool builds also offer a diverse range of finishes that can achieve a multitude of colours and styles perfectly matching home decor.
Q. Which is better – salt water or chlorine?
A. Salt water chlorinators are the most popular solution available on today’s market. The chlorine keeps the water safe to swim in and the water nice and clear. In the harsh Queensland sun it is important to ensure top level performance to avoid contaminated waters.
Q. What are waterline tiles?
A. Waterline tiles are placed directly under the coping and can change the appearance of your pool. With a range of colours and finishes it can alter the colour of the water (as does the colour of the pebble chosen). Usually we suggest a 300mm waterline tile which makes cleaning the waterline easier and reduces risk of the bath-ring effect should your water quality drop at any stage. We have a large selection of tiles available and customers are also welcome to supply their own.
Q. What is coping?
A. Coping is the edging that surrounds your pool. We offer a range of options from travertine, porcelain, granite and sandstone available in a range of styles and colours. Some clients also opt to run their alfresco tiling or decking to the very edge of the pool for a seamless look which removes the need for coping.
Q. Do you have a display where I can see the inclusions, options and finishes?
A. Yes. Our office has a display centre so you can get a hands on feel for the options available. Please make a booking prior to visiting to ensure we have an experience sales team member onsite to walk you through the options.
Q. Do you offer pool water testing and maintenance?
A. We leave pool water testing and maintenance to the experts in those areas – your local pool shop or mobile pool maintenance crew will take care of your needs and ensure your pool stays crystal clean and safe to swim in. This allows us to concentrate on our core business – building pools.
Your handover package does include a water testing kit giving you the freedom to test yourself.
Q. How long does it take to build a pool?
A. The timeline to actively build the pool can vary simply due to shape, size, access and finish selections. As a rough guide you should allow time for consultation, concepts and plans, design, council approvals, construction, weather and finishing processes based on the complexity of your pool.
At L&V Pools we often tend to be booked up weeks in advance so this can extend the turnaround time for construction (we take it as a compliment – it’s a sure sign we are doing something right!). If you are doing your homework and planning for a pool during house construction it can be a good idea to confirm pool plans earlier in the build process so that you can be booked in to install the pool when you are ready.
Due to increasingly limited residential block access we often install pools prior to the building commencing. Booking early can help avoid delays.
We limit the amount of pool projects we take on each year in order to maintain full quality control. It can be a good idea to start planning in autumn and winter so you are pool-ready once the warmer seasons roll around.
